NATURE’S DEEP CALL
I came to Costa Rica and built the Estudio LOS ALMENDROS to live aware of my intrinsic connection to Nature. And LIFE I do experience intensely--its moving ocean and river waters, the ever changing flora, the infinite palette of sensations-emotions-feelings stimulated by the diverse fauna, the joy of breathing oxygen-rich air, full of so many scents and textures, the power of the ‘moving’ earth moving indeed, the shock and surprise of so many forms, colors, and an ever present unexplainable wild harmony. I never want to go elsewhere else, so do come to visit.
Since living here I have researched the expanding literature of Ecopsychology,… ‘a term which was coined 25 years ago by Theodore Roszak, Ph.D., author of The Voice of the Earth (Simon & Schuster, 1992) and a history professor at California State University at Hayward. It is grounded in the notion that people experience what renowned ethnobiologist and Harvard University professor Edward O. Wilson, Ph.D., calls "biophilia," an innate need to interact with the living world of which we're a part. But as humankind becomes increasingly reliant upon modern technology and less in tune with the natural environment, this disconnection from our roots instills feelings of restlessness and alienation and may undermine emotional health’, from by Carin Gorrell, in Psychology Today, Jul/Aug 2001.
