The intention to deepen the subject of Ethics and Community has manifested with Alistair Holmes, a Tibetan monk on his third visit to Montezuma, who has been staying at the Estudio for two weeks.
Quite a peaceful, quiet, yet joyful presence he is. He has been sharing Buddhist teachings to contribute to our spiritual growth, no matter what our religious views are. He is quite appreciated in the community. His talk on Sunday’s spiritual service held at Organico, on kindness and service to others as a path to transcend our physical life, has made me ponder on how to approach these teachings with children.
Of course, example is the best teacher, yet with children, I feel the need to create situations that call for their capacities for problem solving, compassion, playfulness and laughter.
